Alfred & Laura Darlington are The Long Lost, hopeless romantics who make psychedelic lullabies for lovers and the lovelorn. They met in 1994 in the Santa Monica High School orchestra – he on double-bass and she on flute – and began playing together as The Long Lost in 1998. In 2009, they released their self-titled debut record on Ninja Tune.

The Long Lost has performed internationally, notably at Sónar Music Festival in Barcelona, the Guggenheim House in Kobe, Japan, and on BBC Radio 4 in London. Locally, they have performed in Los Angeles at Low End Theory, the Echo, and the Velaslavasay Panorama, among many other venues.

Alfred produces experimental electronic music as Daedelus, teaches at Berklee College of Music, and debuts emerging artists on his Magical Properties label. Laura collaborates with artists such as Flying Lotus and Cut Chemist, and has sung with the UCLA Bulgarian women’s choir Superdevoiche. As The Long Lost, the Darlingtons reveal a fondness for sad sounds and delicate melodies.
